Representative of the first wave of feminism in the nineteenth and early twentieth century: women’s suffrage, the struggle for the right to vote. Feminism encapsulates various movements, theories and philosophies, as pertaining to issues of gender inequality, race and human rights. The visible bra is a reference to the later second (1960s–1970s) and third (1990s to the present) waves of feminism.
